Get Stronger First

A common mistake almost everyone makes:

“I’ll get fit and then start going to gym”.

This is one of the reasons physiotherapists do so well haha!

You see, our cardiovascular system actually adapts pretty quickly (measured in days or weeks) BUT our bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles adapt a lot slower (think: weeks, months & years).

What does this mean in real life?

Well, we’ll be able to run, cycle or swim further with each session (due to our quick adapting CV system) but our bones, tendons, ligaments & muscles break down and get injured (due to their slow adaptation rate).

Take home message:

Build your strength first.

Then your fitness.
